Sorry for not replying earlier, LDAP would be similar . Also you can use the "Network Policy Service" on Microsoft windows active directory to provide a radius interface which is easier to configure. There has been a lot of upgrade of this feature recently as connecting directly with AD wasn't even possible in the past ( that is why I used to use NPS ).
Worst case just use NPS, and you can group users and create schedules for access and what not. Here is a blogpost with an example of it working with Cisco ISE .
