Hello Reynaldo,

It is interesting that logging users out and logging back in simply shows you the issue.

The mechanism is that the device reads the event logs from AD to map the user/domain and IP address. You may want to check the event logs on the AD server during the event.

Is it possible for you to share the complete configuration ?

Thanks,

Re: junos equivilant to screenos VIP port redirection

Hello Ismail,

In Junos the syntax for destination address and port translation can be understood simply as under.

For simplicity , lets consider the following:-

SIP1 = Source IP as seen by the Client.

DIP1 = Destination IP as seen by the Client

DPort1= Destination Port as seen by the Client

SIP2 = Source IP as seen by the Server.

DIP2= Destination IP as seen by the Server

DPort2= Destination Port as seen by the Server

In your case, because you are only looking to NAT the incoming service's port and IP, SIP1 & SIP2 have the same value.

1. We create a pool of Destination IP and Destination Port as seen by server.

set security nat destination pool SRDP-VIP-NAT address DIP2
set security nat destination pool SRDP-VIP-NAT address port DPort2

2. We define the destination nat rule to convert the DIP1/DPort1 into DIP2/DPort2. Assuming that the Client is located in SRDP zone.

set security nat destination rule-set VIP from zone SRDP
set security nat destination rule-set VIP rule r1 match destination-address DIP1
set security nat destination rule-set VIP rule r1 match destination-port DPORT1
set security nat destination rule-set VIP rule r1 then destination-nat pool SRDP-VIP-NAT

3. Define the security policy to allow the post natted Destination IP /Port and original source IP address combination.

set security policies from-zone SRDP to-zone Trust policy Allow-VIP match source-address <Address book defining SIP1>
set security policies from-zone SRDP to-zone Trust policy Allow-VIP match destination-address <Address-book defining DIP2>
set security policies from-zone SRDP to-zone Trust policy Allow-VIP match application <Application defining DPort2>
set security policies from-zone SRDP to-zone Trust policy Allow-VIP then permit

4. You would need to configure proxy-arp on the "Client side" interface only if DIP1 falls in the same subnet asthe "Client side" interface.

Hope this helps!

Thanks,

PPPoE Session Disconnection

Hello,
I'm new to the Juniper forums so please forgive me if I have posted in the incorrect place or anything!
I’m experiencing issues with a PPPoE connection from an vSRX running as a gateway.

It’s more a learning experience than a real issue. I seem to have get all the basics working.
The issue I’m having is the PPPoE connection will drop randomly during the day/ night seemingly regardless of load.

My PPP config:
set interfaces pp0 unit 0 apply-macro ISP-Connection
set interfaces pp0 unit 0 ppp-options chap default-chap-secret "insert password here"
set interfaces pp0 unit 0 ppp-options chap local-name "insert username here"
set interfaces pp0 unit 0 ppp-options chap no-rfc2486
set interfaces pp0 unit 0 ppp-options chap passive
set interfaces pp0 unit 0 pppoe-options underlying-interface ge-0/0/0.0
set interfaces pp0 unit 0 pppoe-options auto-reconnect 2
set interfaces pp0 unit 0 family inet mtu 1420
set interfaces pp0 unit 0 family inet negotiate-address

I've set traceoptions on pppoe and am getting the following logs when the connection drops and then restarts:

So really, I’m a bit stumped about what this is actually telling me but it’s pretty much the same every time it disconnects.

I can see that I am sending PADT's, does this mean that I am terminating the connection? or is this in response to the connection being terminated?

Is my config right? did I miss something?
I will say that this disconnect issue was also an issue I had on a different firewall on the same connection, as well as the provided router that the isp gave me. So, I’m only partly sure it’s not my fault, but if someone can break that down and explain what its telling me then I will be able to "hopefully" go about fixing the issue.

Any help would be amazing!

Can you confirm that the address object SRV1 for the destination is the post nat address 172.16.1.1

set security policies from-zone UNTRUST1 to-zone SRV policy UN1-SRV match destination-address SRV1

And look at the sessions to confirm both the translation and return packet counts.

show security flow session

Hello,

So I've got a 100m cct coming in ge-0/0/0 and I need to dynamically allocate 20/80 out to ge-0/0/1 & 2 - whereby ge-0/0/2 gets at least 80M (but can also be allocated whatever part of the 20m ge-0/0/1 isn't using)

if that makes sense!

Think of it this way: 100Mbps coming into ge-0/0/0 has already arrived, You cannot do anything about it.

Now, think of what composition this traffic has:

- if all of it (100%) needs to go out of ge-0/0/1, then put a 20M output policer/shaper on ge-0/0/1, then ge-0/0/1 will get 20%. ge-0/0/2 will get nothing but there was nothing towards ge-0/0/2 in the 1st place

- if 50% of ge-0/0/0-received traffic needs to go out of ge-0/0/1 and another 50% of it needs to go out of ge-0/0/2, then the same ge-0/0/1 output policer/shaper will rate-limit down to 20Mbps which is Your goal as stated above, and ge-0/0/2 will get 50Mbps as offered to it.

- if 10% of ge-0/0/0-received traffic needs to go out of ge-0/0/1 and 90% out of ge-0/0/2, then 20Mbps output policer/shaper on ge-0/0/1 will not get triggered. ge-0/0/2 will receive full 90Mbps which meets Your goal "ge-0/0/2 must be allocated whatever ge-0/0/1 isn't using" - ge-0/0/1 "will not use" 10Mbps out of "allocated" 20.

- if 0% of ge-0/0/0-received traffic needs to go out of ge-0/0/1 and 100% out of ge-0/0/2, then 20Mbps output policer/shaper on ge-0/0/1 will not get triggered. ge-0/0/2 will receive full 100Mbps which meets Your goal "ge-0/0/2 must be allocated whatever ge-0/0/1 isn't using" - ge-0/0/1 "will not use" 20Mbps out of "allocated" 20.

All-in-all, simple 20Mbps output policer/shaper on ge-0/0/1 will do what You asked.

If Your ask is actually not what You have in mind, then this is another story Smiley LOL

Thx

Hi Ryan,

It will be worth to enable PPP logs as well. This will be confirm if PADT is send because of LCP term-req or LCP keepalive failure.

just update this thread. I noticed a time/date difference between the SRX nodes. I set NTP on node0 and rebooted node1 no issues so far. 3 days now. We will see how it goes. It is possible something else was/is causing this.

Hi,

Many thanks for your time and effort. Just to be honest with you, I'm very confused about that. this is what I have

From ScreenOS config:

" set interface ethernet0/3 description "SRDP" vip 172.21.24.30: 80 "Oracle4" 10.200.3.37:778

The IP: 172.21.24.30 is part of SRDP zone

the Oracle4 application is part of SRDP zone

The IP: 10.200.3.37 is part of Trust zone

The port 7778 is the  dst-port for Service Oracle4

Note: Please see the attached PNG for more info.

with regard to your example, I'm not sure if I reflected the right info to much your example.

SIP1 = Source IP as seen by the Client: VIP-172.21.24.30

DIP1 = Destination IP as seen by the Client : 10.200.3.37/32

DPort1= Destination Port as seen by the Client : 7778

SIP2 = Source IP as seen by the Server. 10.200.3.37/32

DIP2= Destination IP as seen by the Server 80

DPort2= Destination Port as seen by the Server: 172.21.24.30/32

Once again, thanks for your help

Hi Spuluka,

You're correct. I configured source NAT (pool) at first. It's till not working. Then I configure source NAT (1:1 mapping) with destination NAT instead of an old way. Problem is gone!

But mow, TFTP is done but IPphone still can't make a call. I think. Root cause is NAT. Could you suggest me what type of NAT is recommended for IP Phone? Source NAT or Static NAT?

I believe port randomization is causing issue. It is enabled by default in source Nat and disabled in static Nat. You may verify this by disabling source Nat port randomization.

Hi,

Your G/W is 10.0.0.14 and LAN is 10.2.4.0/24. When you are trying to access 172.16.1.1 SRV from 10.2.4.0/24.

Even there is NAT configuration there is no policy for 10.2.4.0/24 where it go. Try Including it in policy.

Thanks!

Hi,

You have following config for voice scheduler:

set class-of-service schedulers voice-network-sched shaping-rate percent 5
set class-of-service schedulers voice-network-sched buffer-size percent 5
set class-of-service schedulers voice-network-sched buffer-size exact

I'm suspecting issue here is with small buffer allocation due to exact option:

exact—(Except on EX8200 standalone switches and EX8200 Virtual Chassis) Enforce the exact buffer size. When this option is configured, sharing is disabled on the queue, restricting the usage to guaranteed buffers only.

https://www.juniper.net/documentation/en_US/junos/topics/reference/configuration-statement/buffer-size-cos-ex-series.html

Please try deleting exact option and check if it helps.

Additionally, some drops might be expected in this scenario if there is any TCP traffic in voice vlan due to TCP nature.

Regards,

Roman

Hello Ryan,

I see that you are getting IP via dhcp.

set interfaces pp0 unit 0 family inet negotiate-address

I would recommend you to check if the disconnections coincide with the lease time of the dynamic IP.

Thanks!

Progress at least.

Make sure your policy to allow the connection uses the specific application that matches your pbx system and not just the "any" application.

Then make sure the matching ALG for the pbx application is turned on for the SRX.

This will allow the ALG to permit the random high ports for the call streams to occur for the calls to work.

The alternative is to find the protocol (usually udp) direction and port ranges used by the calling protocol and setup policies that allow those streams to occur.

Hello Ismail,

Let me try again!

set interface ethernet0/3 description "SRDP" vip 172.21.24.30: 80 "Oracle4" 10.200.3.37:778 "

converts a destination address of a packet (arriving in SRDP zone ) from 172.21.24.30 port 80 to 10.200.3.37 port 778.

On Junos it is achieved by the destination NAT rule written as :-

set security nat destination pool SRDP-VIP-NAT address10.200.3.37
set security nat destination pool SRDP-VIP-NAT address port 778

set security nat destination rule-set VIP from zone SRDP
set security nat destination rule-set VIP rule r1 match destination-address  172.21.24.30
set security nat destination rule-set VIP rule r1 match destination-port 80
set security nat destination rule-set VIP rule r1 then destination-nat pool SRDP-VIP-NAT

Corresponding security policy would look like the following: -

set security zones security-zone trust address-book address HTS11 10.200.3.37/32

set security policies from-zone SRDP to-zone Trust policy Allow-VIP match source-address any   <<<<<<< You can use an address book with the client's subnet here.
set security policies from-zone SRDP to-zone Trust policy Allow-VIP match destination-address HTS11
set security policies from-zone SRDP to-zone Trust policy Allow-VIP match application Oracle4
set security policies from-zone SRDP to-zone Trust policy Allow-VIP then permit

P.S. :- I could not find any attachment with your last post.

Thanks!
