You seem to have the work around figured out and will need to wait for further releases for a permanent fix.
Since you don't have support, you could submit a note via the PR database system on the PR directly. There is a feedback button on each page there and the appropriate people will be notified that he PR isnot fully fixed in this version.
I have also heard that JTAC will accept PR report cases from otherwise unsupported devices. But I have not had to do that myself to verify.
